I’m sure all of you who’ve been tracking your traffic stats like a hawk might already have an answer to this. I’m one.
Can’t dodge the fact that I have tried to post those “101 lists” on a Friday afternoon and waited for the boom to happen. They never did and I know why (I think).
Interestingly enough, there have been lot of studies done on this and even more interestingly, the answers do give a solid conclusion, irrespective of differences in posting frequencies and niche characteristics.
Lorelle, once did a study and found that Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Mondays gave the best traffic.
Marshall too found that tuesdays and thursdays gave the best traffic.
And I think pretty much similar. Here is the weekly traffic stats for DailySEOblog.
Maximum traffic is on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
A lot depends on what your blog is about and how often do you publish articles. But looking at the crowd, I think publishing your ace articles (which are likely to go popular) during Tuesday-Thursday is the best bet.
And if you are particularly targeting the social media, weekdays are not the option for sure.

I think the statistics shows evenly distribution on days. As such it is less significant what day shall we post. The nature of the search engine crawling system must be an efficient basis when will be the optimum day to post blogs and articles.

For me Traffic is too low in Sundays.

I’m seeing the most traffic on Tuesdays as well.

Thats true for me too. I get the maximum hits on Thursdays. Sometimes the difference is over 30 %. I think the days we submit our articles to social netwoks also matter. I get good response from Stumble upon on Tuesdays…

The same goes for sending out newsletters. Not only is Friday not such a good day nor the weekend, the time you send your newsletter (or alerts are sent out when you post an article) is also relevant. If you concentrate on one geographical area, the best time to do this is just before lunch. Do it at night and your message will get lost in the scores of other messages people get overnight. Most people are in a hurry to clear their new messages in the morning. Of course, if you target people all over the world, this is irrelevant.
NB - the example in your “Best time to publish” graphic above shows the date of July 4th - not sure that would be the very best day to publish!

I’ve never done that comparison, but i do seem to have consistent traffic (comments) any day of the week.
I’m thinkin’ one factor is that my blog is for primarily beginners….being one myself not too long ago, I know that we just don’t take days off.

Yea Dennis, your’e right. Turns out that it depends a lot on what domain you are in.

Interesting though. Even though comments are pretty much the same on any given day (or time for that matter) I think I’ll check it out.

Mani - that’s an interesting post. At DemoGeek.com, I get the most on Tuesday thru Friday and it slows down a little bit during the weekends. Since the blog is in its infant age I can’t vouch for the trend but it has been the case for the past couple of weeks.

The stats don’t lie! I once read an article regarding jokes being best for fridays.
