Probably Google is having little fun this season, it’s put up these little cute icons near to the sponsored ads for any search term related to “christmas” on Google.

christmas-logos It’s appearing for almost any term related to christmas, and so far two types of icons are spotted.  christmas-2 Did you spot another one ?

  1. That’s a great way to draw attention to their ads…. though WE’RE not allowed to draw undue attention to the adsense ads on our sites, but Google’s allowed to to their own… that’s just great!

If that is the intent, I think it’s unfair and holidays are no excuse to do it. Period.

  2. It is different and therefore draws attention.
I have to agree, decorating the Google logo is one thing, little icons next to advertising is another, which goes against their tos for adsense users.

  3. The whole thing with paid ads are that people are less inclined to click them than with organic search results, hence dangling tinsel next to them is hardly going to make them more attractive. They need to camouflage them as much as possible to get clicks.
