hmm… why do you recommend to use jpeg,gif instead of png? is it only the size or something more?

Yes it’s primarily about the size, but there’s also a point that illustrates that Jpegs and Gifs are more popular formats on Google image search, in search and results. So it’s better if we can fit into those brackets. However there’s absolutely nothing wrong in using PNG’s.

Perhaps you know the idea behind having appropriate image of any object to make better understanding and may be a substitution for words.

I have used descriptive words in the image name and ranked more for terms that matched these keywords. Definitely a good tip, and I’ve been doing this ever since! Thanks for the suggestion.

Good article Mani, seo for images in fairly under utilized but can have big rewards for those that put in the effort (google image search is a biggie).
Most people are aware of making use of the alt tags, but some valuable points you make include having the image within relevant content, and using keyword rich file names.

Nice points cleared out here. I always avoid using png files. The upload time and download time consuming.
