The first thing you do while testing websites for Search Engine Optimization compatibility is a spider test a.k.a crawler test. There are lots of free tools available online for Search Engine Simulation, I agree, but here’s one I spotted lately that’s very easy to work with compared to other SEO crawler tests.
What’s a SEO Crawler test ?
Well, its a set of basic checks you do on a website to try and find out if there are enough “crawl able” content on your website and if it meets the basic SEO necessities.
So basically, it gives you clues on whether the most essential SEO metrics are in place or not.
A SEO spider simulation test checks for titles, text content, keyword densities, java script/flash presence etc.
Here is a new free online spider simulation/ crawler test tool that I found interesting.
Its called Spider Test.
Spider Test - Features
- Easy to use and is completely free.
- Detailed clues on a couple of SEO metrics in addition to spiderability test.
- No captcha, repetitive usage is fine.
- Checks for Single keywords with keyword densities,
- Provides SEO suggestions for meta tags, styles etc.
What I’d like to see on Spider Test
If they can provide “keyword densities” for phrases on the content copy, that’d be nice too.
From all the popular Spider Simulation test tools that we have already, I think this is a nice one I’d like to use time and again. Try it here.

Hi Mani,
Thank you for sharing this post with us. That is an interesting site. I will surely try it out. How often do you think that one should test their site to see if it is being crawled??
PS: Glad to share with everyone that I’ve started a niche site
Cheers,

Eddie, I think the webmaster console (google.com/webmasters) is a better place to find out how often your site is being crawled. You can even adjust the settings there.
