If you haven’t yet heard of Wolfram Alpha, you should be living in a cave, but for others Wolfram Alpha means a lot of buzz.. It is a new kind of search engine that’s lovingly called as the Google Killer – a speculative thought though.
Wolfram Alpha sure is a winner, I don’t know if its a Google Killer or Challenger for that matter. If at all it is, Google probably would eat it up. But coming down to how this guys works, and how impressive its, you have to try this guy yourself. As I told, its a bit different., Its not like Google, a bit advanced in its functions, does things a little more logically, and is more like an answering machine.
While Google find matches for search terms and give you the “best results”, this guys pulls and meaningful data, and presents it in a visually understandable form. Its like someone out there behind the engine sorts all that data for you, so that it all makes sense.
Example: While searching for Google will give us all the relevant websites with authentic data, Wolfram Alpha pulls off all those data (and some more valid data), sorts it and presents it to you in a meaningful fashion. Wolfram Alpha takes more time in computing the data, it does most of its task through the Mathematica search.
So this guys is Google KIller ? I don’t know but it sure likes a new thing to me. At least, its not trying to ape Google, so far so good.

I had so many expectations and when finally I got to test it I was disappointed. It is light years behind wikipedia as far as. It is a great tool for scientist and probably it will be a quick resource for students on some subjects, but overall for 95% of the normal web users it is useless.
