Last year, Google announced the free Google Docs templates gallery, which featured awesome templates that made our life easier. And today, Google announced that they would now feature more free templates from users. Now, Google docs feature all sorts of templates, from Resume templates to Family budget planners.
If you have developed a template of your own, you can also submit it here and it would feature in the templates gallery (after a screening process). Templates can be documents, presentations, spreadsheets, and even forms. Other people can preview your templates, and then click "use this template" to create their own copy for personal use. They can also rate your templates to help other users find the most useful templates.
I think this is a nice move from Google, at least for all those who’re trying to figure out how to use Google docs – this will be a good start.

You’re right, it is a nice move. Google Docs is a bit restrictive on functionality, and these templates make it easy to store a good-looking document or resume online.

Glad to see a fellow “template hater” – they can work if you absolutely NEED something in the next ten minutes, but otherwise all the template does is let the hiring manager know you know how to borrow someone elses’ work. If I want a unique, creative individual, I move the templates off to the side and focus on the resumes that are unique, creative and individualized!
