“ Content is King “
I don’t know who said this term first. But we’ve often heard this phrase repeat, time and again, over and over. Its sort of a cliche now. And how meaningful is it ? Let’s see.
Content sure is king. Its everything on a website. I guess the reason why whoever said this, said this is because at those times, you could see people building site just to take advantage of SEO and the AdSense money. You could pull it off with a few meta tag tweaks and some H1 tag addition.
But not any more. You know it doesn’t work – that’s the old school stuff.
Today, things have changed a lot. People know what a made-for-Adsense website is. People know if a website had quality content or not. Fooling them with SEO is not-gonna-happen !
So content is king of course, but what matters most is how well you package it and how well you give value to your readers.
If content was king, Wikipedia would rule the SERPs. In fact, they do, not just because they have good content, but they’ve packaged it well, structured it well.
And to package your content, you need to take help of SEO and Social Media. They are two great channels. Learn more about it in the next tip – coming tomorrow

Example : You don’t buy a good piece of clothing and wrap it around your body.Instead, you go to a Taylor, cut it into pieces, join them and make a good looking outfit. The same holds true for content too.You must learn to “package” it..

Javs the idea is to touch base with some basics and grow up from there. Particularly useful for beginners, advanced users may find it a bit repetitive.

Hi Mani, first thanks for this crash course, but may be a little more useful info could be nice.
I’ve found after reading that having nice content is not enough that it has to be well wrapped, I’m not very sure you are helping many beginners.
Just trying being constructive because I want to follow this course if is useful.

Its a broad term Gayathri, It could mean writing illustrative content, it could also mean writing social media link baits, and it could also mean writing content with the SEO backbone in mind….however essentially it means writing content that appeals to people. So basically it means knowing what people want and catering to their interests and needs devoid of the noise. let me give you an example..
If you write and article about photography..you could write very illustrative articles like – how to start with photography as a hobby..and then write a 1000 word article..but when I say “packaging” it well, I mean writing it in a more simple format – “Top 10 things you need to know to start photography as a career”. Here the content should be both Search Engine Optimized as well as Social Media savvy. Thats a win-win situation.
Hope its clear.

Hi Mani,
I cannot agree with you more on this “Packaging” idea. But actually speaking, “Content is King” still holds a stronger ground.
You mentioned Wiki, I am also referring to them. As we all know backlinks play a key role in SEO & this Wiki gets tons of them. I hope, its because of the information they provide & not for any SEO stuff called “Packaging”. Isn’t it ??
Anyways the context of your article may be not related to backlinking, but still its a concern as regarded to SEO.

Soumen
