10 Essential Adobe Air Applications for Social Media Addicts

If you’ve been wondering how the social media super heros stay connected with everything new, hot and happening on the internet, here’s a clue -  with the enormous amount of time they spent skimming through stories and events on the internet, they use tools that the normal web user doesn’t. Its these tools that make them special and stand out from the crowd. Here are a couple of them I found interesting, I’m sure you will too.

1. Digg RSS Reader

Digg Headline reader using all of the digg.com rss feeds that auto updates headlines every two minutes. Great tool if you want to take a glance at what’s hot on Digg without loading the webpage.

Twitter is cool and Twitter search is much cooler ! What am I talking about ? Twicker – which is an Adobe Air app that will keep searching the twitter streams for something of your choice. Just set the search term of your choice (I use @manikarthik – for seeing my mentions) and the application will keep popping up the tweets that has the search term. So you don’t have to go search twitter every time !

Another good use is to track conversations on any particular topic, for instance “google page rank update”, the app will automatically update you whenever someone mentions it in their twitter feed.

6. Feedalizr

Feedalizr is a social media desktop client that keeps track of updates from many networks such as friendfeed, twitter, facebook, Flickr, Twitpic & jaiku. Instant updates with no duplicates (duplicates are highlighted) and easy to understand and use. If you need a one stop solution to your social media needs, this is the guy.

7. Social Media Player

Its a media player based in AIR. Plays music from popular social media channels like last.fm and connects you with Twitter, Facebook etc.
