adwords.google.com/">Adwords is the most powerful tool available today for online referral/ads management. No doubt on that. But just having plenty of budget and an ad-copy does not mean that you’re making the best of it. Utilising the minimum resources to get the maximum ROI is what the game is all about.A wise application of online marketing strategy will give you the best results and even the last visitor you missed!
1 - Aggrevate your adwords campaign on a weekend.
As you know weekends means more traffic - and aggravating your campaign means more impressions and more exposure. For this, make your CPM tighter(less) during weekdays, save as much as you can while maintaining a significant level of impressions - and increase the Max CPM for your ad campaigns on a Thursday night itself. This will make your ads show more number of times on sites. The effects of which will start showing on a Friday and the maximum on Saturdays and Sundays.
2 - Rotate your ads
Many of the advertisers are un aware of this wonderful tool Google offers. It appears to the bottom left of the campaign management window.
Well, this is just an ad rotator tool, where it allows you to make different ad copies for the same campaign - but limiting to your daily budget.Which means that the chances of a visitor noticing your ads are more and you can narrow the possibility of them ignoring the ad if the copy is not appealing. Suppose you have used targeted ads on a specific site, where there are three ad spots.Instead of showing the same ad on all the three spots, google will show the three different ads copies on the three spots. If there are potential “clickers” around, they are sure to find one of the ads appealing.
3 - Do not use image ads - If you are keen on them - use them wisely.
Image ads are not effective in conversion ratio when compared to text ads.Simple reason is that - people still recognise image ads as “Advertisements”. So they tend to stay away from the ad - even if you have a beautiful image on it.
But there is an opportunity here too.If it’s a beautiful image, then visitors are likely to have a look at it - but wouldn’t click - yes that’s what we need. Don’t let them click the ad - instead get their attention and then once we have their glimpse, shoo them away. This can be accomplished as explained in my earlier post on how to create brand awareness using google adwords.
4 - Use the filter dude, it’s for you anyway.
Just think of the most annoying websites you can think of(with ads). About.com , Forums, Flash enabled sites etc etc… Now you know that forums are not a good place to advertise -simply because the main activity of the users are so closed and concentrated that they don’t care for any ads.You lose your CPM value there. And you know how confusing it is for a client to click ads-and read content on a spammish site like about.com, so when you know that there is a site that is stupid, filter it off from the sitelist. So that your ads keep away from the spam.
5 - Use daily budgets and plan your expenditure.
For a beginner it’s easy to run out of money if you haven’t opted for this feature. Google helps you to set daily budgets for your ads so that once (daily) when the daily budget is met, your ads stops running. And you save the money. This enables you to plan your budget on a daily -monthly and yearly basis. So you have perfect control on it.
