Best of the Wordpress hacks seen lately

Make unique header images for each post

Brajesh has a nice plugin developed that will help you to make unique image headers appear for each post, on Kubrick based WordPress themes. Easy to use plugin, but only for Kubrick lovers. Tutorial here.

Edit / Upload / Remix / Do whatever you could possibly think of with Videos on your WordPress blog

Kaltura has released a video plugin for wordpress, which is not just about uploading and embedding but these too –

  • Upload, record from webcam and import all rich-media directly to your blog post;
  • Edit and remix videos using Kaltura’s online full-featured video editor;
  • Easily import all rich media (video, audio, pictures…) from other sites and social networks, such as YouTube, MySpace, Flickr, CCMixter, Jamendo, New York Public Library, any URL on the web etc.;
  • Allow readers and subscribers to add video and audio comments, and to participate in collaborative videos;
  • Manage and track interactive videos through the management console;
  • Complete administrative capabilities. You decide who can add and edit each video;
  • Supports more than 150 video, audio and image file formats and codecs
  • Three different video player styles to choose from
  • Custom sizing of the video player
  • Advanced sharing options for videos

    Rearrange Pages in the navigation bar

    This one should be very useful for people trying to rearrange pages on their blogs without having to re order them with page IDs (which is not for everyone.) It offers a simple and easy to use drag and drop interface. Clever widget !

      1. Does anyone still use Kubrick?

      2. How difficult could it possibly be to rearrange pages via the # Id’s?

      I just don’t get it.

      Indeed Dennis. Not all are savvy enough to use custom fields and magazine style themes, there are a good amount of people who just want a simple theme on WP. And many prefer Kubrick for its simplicity. This plugin is for all of them.

      Ok now, if I read that right, if I’m working with a NON-Kubrick theme, I may have to mess with the inner workings like CSS and stuff…is this correct?

      hi Mani
      you are most welcome.And thank you for reviewing it on your website.Let me tell you something ,This plugin also uses hidden custom fields, but user don’t need to worry about that.As the front end abstraction method takes care of that.

      @Dennis
      You don’t need to use Kubrick,You can use it with any theme.Choice is yours.And using #Ids will not cause any issue.
      Hope to see it on your blog now -:)

      Regards
      Brajesh
