I’m happy to introduce to you another free wordpress theme from DSB, this one’s called “SEO Blog” quite simply. Here’s how it looks.

SEO-Blog-theme-header

Features

  • Three column search engine friendly template.
  • Widgetized, footer (three column)
  • Widgetized sidebar (two column)
There is a Top Sidebar area, which covers the entire sidebar, below “which the sidebar is split into two “Left and Right sidebar” all the three completly widgetized.
  • Header carries a Twitter update box, which updates your latest tweet and links to your twitter homepage. (Hope you live that birdie graphic there)
  • AJAX comments with easy commenting without page refresh.
  • Nested/Threaded comments with AJAX support, so now you can disagree more. :)
  • A cute/ configurable email subscription form for feedburner, that’s editable.
  • Search Engine Optimized content. If you follow the SEO guidelines, I have, whatever content you put in will be in the best possible onsite optimized form for the spiders to absorb, so you can pretty much leave the SEO option completely.
  • Header graphic is customizable (Logo PSD file included, I know that you like to tinker with it and come up with your own.)
  • Highlight on categories and pages. (If you consider optimizing the categories, this is probably the best option.)
  • Gravatar support in comments
  • Featured / Latest article support

Known/Expected Issues

There are no issues so as to break the theme however, based on user specifications and your blog settings, there might be changes observed, like for instance the category display length. IF the number of categories is extensively high, they will break to line two, making the category navigation bar thicker (black box below the header) in height.

Well, the theme aims to provide -

  • A search engine friendly content that’s on autopilot.
  • Focus on your twitter activities
  • Enable easy discussion on the comments developing a community
  • Easy drag and drop integration of widgets anywhere on the footer and sidebar.

Plugins Used – Wp-Post views,WP Threaded comments,AJAX Comments. (Included in the installer pack) All in One SEO (Not included.)

The theme is tested on the following browsers. IE 7, Opera 9.6, Chrome 0.3.154.9, Fire Fox 3.03 and works fine.

Installation

- Download the zip file, unzip it to your themes directory, and activate form dashboard.
- Goto header.php and replace “$username” with yours to set the latest tweets display on the header.
- In the zip file, all the plugins needed to run this theme is included in a separate “Plugins” directory. Upload them to the plugins directory and activate them.
- To let widgets appear on the siderbar/footer, go to Dashboard>Design>Widgets and select the appropriate widget space and drop the ones you want to appear.
- There are seven widget zones.
Top - Appears just below the email subscription box.
Sidebar left - Appear on the left side of the sidebar.
Sidebar right - Appear on the right side of the sidebar.
Sidebar bottom - Appears beneath sidebar left and right covering the entire sidebar awidth.
Footer left - Footer center and Footer right - The three boxes in the footer appropriately.
(Hope you dont run out of widgets to place in these areas.)
- Go to sidebar.php and replace the HTML code(marked “sidebar-subbox” on line 3) for your RSS feeds email subscription option. Just replace all the code starting from <form> to </form> inside the div “sidebar-subbox”.

If you find any bugs, please feel free to report here in comments.

Hi Rem, Its actually a live twitter feed.

To get rid of it, go to header.php and find this line.

    class=”headerbox”> (line 35)
Delete all the lines until line 70, where it says < /div >.

  27. Thanks for showing how to get rid of the Twitter business, as I don’t fiddle with Twitter. (I have enough trouble keeping up with the blog!) However, I’m having the same trouble as Tazzy, in that my paragraphs are all “hard together” one on top of the other. If one paragraph finishes far down the line, readers may think that the two paragraphs are one large monster, instead of two separate thoughts.

Is there a general solution for this problem?

Bruce, can you give me a screenshot of the problem please. I t should be a quick fix.

  29. Having a theme like SEO blog could have greater chance of being index in search engine rankings since the title seo blog is already an essential keyword should anyone be looking for SEO, blog, or seo blog. It enhances keyword optimization for wordpress blogs.

i hope you understand , i also send you snapshot if you interested.

    Mani KarthikNo Gravatar Replied:

    Hi Ashish,

Please check the above tweak for the paragraph formatting.

Reg: the navigation bar, what is the misalignment you are experiencing? (Do you have a screenshot?)

The images are set to left align, but if you align them particularly like by using the div align=”right” command. That will work too. Please use the align feature from the advanced menubar.

If the prob still remains, let me know pls.

  36. Hello.
This theme is nice, and was i was lookin for, thanks!

But i’m havin’ the same “paragraph problem” tham other above. I looked for the tweak, how to fix, but couldn’t find here. What to do?

    Thank so much!

    Mani KarthikNo Gravatar Replied:

    Hi Eduardo,

Here’s what you need to do.

    1. Go to dashboard
    2. Click Design>Theme Editor
    3. Choose stylesheet form the right menu, (style.css)

    OR

Find style.css from the local folder in your system wher you’e stored the theme files.
    SEO-Blog/style.css

Copy the entire content of style.css into a text editor like Notepad, and find “.post p” without quotes. Just hit CTRL+F and find it.

Change the line “.post p {margin-top:0px;}” to “.post p {margin-top:10px;}”

In fact, you can change the value 10 to any number according to your preference, the bigger the space you want between paragraphs, make the number bigger. However, 10-20 would be great.

This should sort the issue. If you have any troubles along the way, please do let me know

    Why is that?
I’m really interested in this theme, as it has a widgetized footer, and it looks neat :)
