Sounds weird.. does it not?

Well, it’s almost true now. The Bloggercamp scheduled this Aug 16 is truly exciting in all ways.

The whole camp, presentations, chit chat and all that is going to be on this huge boat! Whooa! Now, that’s refreshing to hear! No more crampy halls, no chairs, no sign boards.. :)

This baby floats around in the backwaters of Alleppey, which is known as the abode of nature in tranquility. And it’s one of the “must visit” tourist destinations by NatGeo. Check out the insideof the boat here - I’m confused if I should leave my gadgets and take my fishing gear along instead!

Unfortunately this event is limited to only 150 people (max what the boat can hold), and there are some 98 guys already registered, so that should explain why you should rush now.

My much calculated guess is that after this event, holidays and bloggercamps will have a thin line to cross ! Thanks to Kerala Tourism!

More details on the event here.

TechCult is the new site from DailyBlogTips owner Daniel. Great domain isn’t it ?
Well, though it sounds similar to Techcrunch, it’s not quite like the 100 million “tech blogs” on the internet today.

Daniel has a clear vision of setting up a “tech blog with a difference” here.
TechCult is a tech review site (oh! yeah?) but it’s not the typical review one either. It is oriented more towards the lighter side of things. The reviews are all sugar coated pills like, basically tech reviews in a enjoyable perspective sharing some good laugh with you.

SEO Blog-techcult

Though, I think that Daniel has done the design in a haste, it’s going to improve soon, says Deniel. The topics are all interesting as they all have a fresh perspective from the normal tech review blogs.
I’d suggest reading TechCult at the end of day everyday, if you want to have a good sleep! :D

Just got a nudge from the Proto.in guys that their brand new event for the season is happening this July 18-19 at Delhi. If you don’t know what Proto.in is, you must’ve been living in a cave !
The Venue for the upcoming edition of Proto.in is finalized in the halls of the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, for the dates of 18th and 19th (Friday, Saturday).

This time around, the guys say that they’ve raised their standards and only the best of the best companies will make it to the stage. That’s interesting to hear - something worth following.
The Proto folks are expecting a good crowd of 600-ish technology related guys to turn up, so it’s likely to be a good event worth attending.

Also, the Proto guys have offered two blogger’s passes for two regular readers of DailySEOblog. It would cost you Rs.500 otherwise. So if you’d want to be there, do let me know.

This is a great advancement on the Google custom search product. Now, Google allows you to customize your custom search by -

- Letting you chose the sites from the which the results are to be displayed.
now, you can type in the URLs from which you want the results to be displayed. Already Google lets the user decide whether he wants to search in the particular site or from the web. Now to top that, the admin (you) can decide as to from which sites the results should be displayed while the user selects “the web”.

- Letting you specify keywords so that the searches are related to those keywords
For example, if someone searches for “cat” it throws up all the results from the web related to “cat”. Now if you specify certain keywords already like “mba, management, cat exam” then when someone searches for “cat”, only results pertaining to the keywords you specified will display.

I think this is an excellent way to refine and show more accurate results on the custom search. How much of this improvement converts to clicks is to be proven though. More information here and here.

Another innovation from Google is here to help you deal with your regional language, Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil etc on the iternet.
You can now try out Google’s new English to Hindi translation service, and the translated search feature that lets you query in Hindi, obtain search results for the translated query in English, and then see the Hindi translations of these results.
Bright idea this one!
Read more about the new service here.

Hey, do you have a doubt on SEO? I’ve opened a new forum at DailySEOblog, to let you ask those questions and discuss it with the community. Many a times the doubts I get on emails are interesting that it’s worthy to share it with others. The articles on them are fine, and I’ll keep doing that, but just more than clearing the doubt, i thought it’s important to pool in others ideas and discuss it. So we have a forum.

Check out the DSB How To forums here.

It’s a very simple forum with all the basic features, no fancy stuff. The idea is to enable everyone to learn from practical experiences, and guide through the trouble shooting process of SEO. There are a few categories I’ve already put up, but if you think more in needed, please feel free to let me know and we can work it out.

Thanks to the beta testing community for reporting me errors and providing suggestions on the board.

So that means there’s lot happening behind the scenes, eh? Shortly after the release of Wordpress 2.5, Version 2.5.1 is in the stable. WP 2.5.1 includes a number of bug fixes, performance enhancements, and one very important security fix (Does anyone know what the hell is this?). The wordpress community recommends that everyone update immediately, particularly if your blog has open registration. The vulnerability is not public but it will be shortly. I’m guessing it’s got to do something with the “open registration” thing.

And yea, if you are not upgrading because you think it’s a boring process, there’s this cool Wordpress Automatic Upgrade plugin from Keith that let’s you do it in a few clicks! Yup, the wizard stuff.

Meanwhile, any guesses on what the vulnerability is? Developers?

Card

This should explain the little surprise news that I had promised earlier. I’ve decided to co-run OrganicApex with Ashwin. And this little card with the Digg button explains what we are going to do. We are probably the best guys in India who can handle SEO and SMM together delivering a ’single umbrella’ online marketing strategy.

Meanwhile, Barcamp was awesome. Met some cool chaps with some brilliant ideas. Also, met some blog readers like Ankit Arora, Ranjan Varma, and some other very cheerful people. Thanks all for grabbing me out of the crowd and chatting hope you all have my cards with you.Drop a line when you think it’s necessary. Hope you liked the Digg thing on the card.

BarCamp Mumbai sounds like fun and I’ve decided to join.

There are some popular names in the attendees list, so this is something to look forward to.
I hope they have ready enough room for the attendees (there are 261 right now), unlike last time.

Feel free to grab me while you spot me at the venue.
This time, I have a surprise, and this is the right time and place to reveal it, so stay tuned.
