Its been quite some time now since a major redesign happened. Last time, I did it myself but this time around am looking for someone who has lot of time to spend, knows the trends and can provide me at least a few options. I’m looking for a trendy design with focus on speedy page load times, and useability. Of course, the must have options also should sync in to fit the audience.
DailySEOblog has an audience primarily of webmasters and SEO enthusiasts, who’re looking to learn, contribute and discuss about everything SEO. I’m not looking for a typical blog layout this time, but something different that will be refreshing as well as easy to adapt to. Some of the main things that come out in a brief are –
1 – A focus on content and usability.
DSB is best known for its content, and tits what many people find interesting. The new design would highlight the content.
2 – Social Media Options.
DSB readers are mostly social media savvy and the second largest traffic source after Google is Social Media, I’d like to leverage on that and provide options that will make it easier for people to engage with and share stories/discussion on DSB. That doesn’t mean plugging in an entire array of social bookmarking icons though, something very simple, but efficient like a Twitter button and a facebook discussion integration.
3 – Light weight.
I’m on a VPS now and would like to decrease the page load time to a minimum, possibly within 3-4 seconds. This is going to be a major challenge.
4 – Branding.
DSb will feature a distinct brand through the same colours (or something strikingly different that will convince me, but its not going to be easy) and a face lifted logo. Again, its about reaching up to the next level.
5 – Standing out.
The design must stand out from the rest by not following a traditional approach. The advertising areas are going to get a better placement different from the normal typical blog right hand sidebar solution. If possible, I want to move the 125×125 ads to the top area horizontally allowing it a better focus and making it easier for viewers to differentiate it from the content. Again, this is up for discussion.
I’ve contacted a few designers already, to see if they have the time and energy to spend time with me understanding the concept, but if you know anyone who can help me with this, please feel free to drop me an email. I’ll be glad to spent some time with you brainstorming.
