Recently, I received an email from the John T P, from the much popular JohnTP.com.

It said if I would be interested to guest blog on his domain, since he is not well.

I thought it’s a good offer as more than any other benefit, JohnTP.com was a pretty popular blog and getting in to it’s writer’s board would definitely mean something good to me.

How John sees it is like this - I can get a free PR 6 backlink from the articles I’m writing. Well, that’s his pitch so I didn’t think twice about it.

Meanwhile the searchcamp came up and I was not available for the two days.

John had also asked me to send him an article or two through mail. I don’t know why he insisted it because he already have seen my articles on dailySEOblog as well as Bloggingtips.com. Now, I replied back to John saying if it’s OK to send him the articles after the even to which he agreed.

Okay, long story short - I did not accept the offer.

Reasons
I don;t think John was good in his emails. Good in the sense, the way he talked to me sounded very bossy (unlike Kevin at Bloggingtips.com, who’s a really good chap!) and did not really ignited the passion in me.

It wounded to me more like he is trying to do me a favor.

I could’ve easily taken up the offer and got the PR 6 link to this blog (which incidentally have very few incoming links).

But the moral of the story here is that, when talking to people over e-mail, you got to be very cautious and polite. Don’t you think so? I’m not talking about listening to every shit the other guy is talking but you have to be polite and firm at the same time. Just the right kind of etiquette required to communicate well to others.

See the email transcript between me and John below. I think John needs some improvements in his email etiquettes seriously. Nothing personal John. hope you take it in the right spirits.

JOHN

With the new Windows Live beta release, more and more bloggers are using it these days. A manifestation of which can be found from the rising number of - Temporary Post Used For Style Detection - posts on blogs.

While setting up WLW, it asks the user to post a style detection post that should be deleted later. But many do not delete it. Amit Agarwal even has a post on How to delete the style detection post.

A google search on “Style detection post” gives you an alarming 1,690,000 pages!!

I had to write about this. There are lot of fraud SEO’s around. No doubt. Many of them somehow downloads a pirated copy of some popular SEO book ( there are many around ) and becomes SEO’s overnight (That’s not my idea - I read it on the DP forums ). Now they go on to set up a one - page website with a Google, MSN and Yahoo logo with a dart picture (un-licensed) saying something like “The world’s best SEO - Rank No.1 guaranteed “. Have you seen one?

It’s easy to make them out as frauds from their overly detailed testimonials and super-duper client list (Some even have Yahoo on the client list - what the..?). It’s essential for genuine SE optimizers to make aware the public on these frauds and hence this post.

This post is inspired from this article by Philip Lenssen. I thought this post might enlighten you to make out between fraud SEO’s and genuine one’s from their claims. Though Philip has mentioned many white-hat terms here, I think it’s OK to assume that many of them are used by fraud SEO’s than genuine ones.

He says

In the SEO industry agencies, experts and even bloggers have adopted a special mode of speech not to say slang that might be misunderstood by outsiders like clients, website visitors or the general public. To help you understand what search engine optimization experts really mean I devised this real glossary of SEO speak:

One of the traffic building methods in the blogosphere is commenting!

Oh! Great Mani, I’ve heard it a million times from others already!!(Did you just say that to yourself?)

I know, i know - you’ve been commenting around at blogs all the time, and all it gave was that tiny bit of increase in traffic - after all that eye-straining and spell checks.
I completely agree.

On a normal day, i spent a major part reading blogs - for “inspiration”, another few hours writing on my blog, and the rest of the time researching and doing my work(Daamn. That’s very less!).

It’s not surprising - i can’t write more than a few valid comments on a blog. First - you got to read the article thoroughly to write a valid comment. And i don’t have the time to do that - everytime i read an article, i’m impatient and is more likely to click on another link and surf along..
I’ve seen comments like -

Good post there - Keep up the good work!

But isn’t that spam? It does not make any sense. I don’t think any author would take such comments.

Okay - so what’s the point here talking about comments?
Today on - I’m going to allot a day a week only for commenting on other blogs. And I’ve chosen friday.

Reasons for a friday.
- I dress casual.
- I’m in a jolly mood.
- Saturday is around.
- I have some lovely plans for the weekend and..
- I can see people talking :D

Stupid reasons they may be, but i’m going on commenting spree on Fridays. So if you have a great blog, please do let me know.I’m starving for quality articles…

I’ve moved to a new domain today - Dailyseoblog.com, Hope you like it.

Many reasons for this

  1. A domain name related to the content - seo(search engine optimization) that is.
  2. Shorter domain name - easy to remember.
  3. Is more recognizable.
  4. Easy for readers to suggest the site to others.

Sounds lame? let me know what you think about the domain please.
