Wow that was fast…

Well, I think it’s because Mr.Chow failed to deliver quality content.
He had the traction, but lost the grip with the Google blow. In that situation Chow should’ve focussed on delivering “extra ordinary” articles consistently. Despite not doing that Chow failed to even deliver quality content rather got inclined more to the promotional articles alone, that was like digging his own grave.

Well, that’s true. At the beginning John Chow was a great writer but now .. he is talking only about the places he visited and food. It looks like a travel blog or something, not a how to make money one.

I have to say Mani, I was really surprised to see you write a post like this. I know it seems to be popular to be a John Chow hater however I dont know why you felt you had to write this post.

The reason his Alexa figure has went down the last few months is the same reason everyones Alexa figure has dropped. In April Alexa announced a new calculation system (http://www.alexa.com/site/company/announcement) and most blogs saw a large decline in their Alexa Figure. BloggingTips went down from 25,000 to 130,000. JC’s blog has grown to over 25,000 subscribers so there is no way his traffic has decreased since the start of the year, I have no doubt that his traffic has increased.

With regards to his content, I have been critical about somet of JC’s methods and tactics in the past however his blog is first and foremost a personal one. He did target the making money online niche and he has did incredibly well from doing so however he still posts personal articles a lot. Recently there have been more non-tips related posts, I’ll grant you that.

I’m a subscriber of this blog however I have to admit I was suprised you wrote such a negative post about another blogger.

Kev, I’m sure JC will take this in the right spirit as you did and see this as an opportunity to explain things if at all he has to. I’m no John Chow hater, but the traffic plummeting was something that took me aback equally! I don’t think JC has noted this down ride yet..hope this will help nudge him. Cheers mate!

This is definitely not a negative post by Mani…Alexa changing the formula is well known and probably Alexa’s new formula has revealed the tricksters…there are blogs that still are very popular and attract a lot of crowd…I have been doing a similar analysis on alexa for quite sometime now and it is truly amazing that some of the so called popular blogs have lesser traffic ranks…

well john chow in his own words admits, that he is an internet marketer first, and no wonder he manages to project a higher earnings every month and make people believe that whatever he does attracts the crowd and the money…!!!

John chow has definitely written some great posts in the past but as someone here mentioned, he has lost his focus on delivering good content in recent times…every post of his is nothing but a review post on anything ranging from blogs to food and hotels, that pay him for those reviews…unfortunately they were mesmerized by john chow’s marketing skills…no doubt that john chow is a great marketer on the internet but he failed to help people make money online….

Mybloglog has been chiefly instrumental in making johnchow.com and johncow.com popular by continuously showing them as hot communities for years together…somehow john chow has stuck a great deal there and mybloglog had been very biased in doing so…

let me add one more thing, even doshdosh.com with its good content has failed…this is another make money online blog that attracted mybloglog…

compare johchow.com, doshdosh.com and labnol.org or even quickonlinetips.com on alexa…

labnol.org and quickonlinetips.com are way ahead of the johnchows,cows and doshdoshes… Alexa is a traffic ranking site and how come these blogs are continuing to do well than the others? Ponder

leave labnol.org…try comaring shoemoney.com, johnchow.com, doshdosh.com and quickonlinetips.com…look at where they are headed…amazing…alexa’s new formula had been really good now-a-days…earlier their formula solely depended on alexa’s toolbar users for ranking websites and no wonder the internet marketers were able to trick alexa, into believing that their sites are highly ranked…

Techblissonline Dot Com - With regards to the content of John Chows blog, I am still a subscriber however I dont read the blog as much now because as you say, there are not many making money online type posts now and those were the posts I was interested in. However, I think the main argument here was that his traffic is dropping and I dont see anything that indicates that it is. The number of subscribers to his blog has greatly increased since the start of the blog so I am certain traffic is up.

Alexa has improved their calculation of traffic but at the end of the day, their traffic rating system still sucks. It can give a slight indication but it is not fool proof, far from it. Before alexa changed its ratings etc my old poker forums had about 4 times as much traffic as my blog, yet my blog had a rating under 30,000 and my poker forums had a rating around 250,000.

After Alexa changed, it has improved a little, however it is still inaccurate and should be used as a guide only and not as fact.

oh yes i do agree that even the current alexa’s formula is not the perfect traffic ranker but it still is good…that is what i believe…and

regarding the number of subscribers, kevin, there are so many tricks to cheat on the number of subscribers…it is not difficult and john chow and shoemoney really took people for a ride with their email subscrition show sometime back…

I guess he is not worried about all these. He is still able to make 30000 $ from his blog and he want that alone.

that is another internet marketing gimmick nirmal…who knows whether he makes all that money from his blog alone? people always get attracted when they hear that so and so guy is making big money…that is a crowd puller…

but once again i repeat, john chow is a brilliant internet marketer for his own benefits but his articles may not always benefit you…but still you get attracted when he quotes the money he makes…

Hi Karthik, I feel, instead of the title “The death of John Chow” it should be “The death of JohnChow.com”.

When bloggers say they no longer are being helped by John Chow’s money making posts as in the past, can they document how much actual money was made with the help of John Chow’s blog?

If not, what does it matter if John blogs about food or black hat?
