This should work for anyone who’s been blogging for some time and have a decent number of posts to his credit.
This tip goes out to all of those who have tried all the social media optimizations and link building campaigns, but none worked as you wanted them to.
Well, the following tip is a pretty simple one. It worked for me, and I see no reason why it shouldn’t work for you. But before we go into it, let me clarify a few things.
- You must have the time and energy to spend for this.
- This is not a “works for all” tip, it may vary in effect.
- You must have a good number of posts on your blog.
Okay, so basically it requires you to find out all your best posts from the blog. If you are confused on which are your best posts, check out your statistics from a long time, may be since when you started blogging. Pick out those which has the maximum search engine traffic and page views. They may not bes the best posts in quality considering the time you took to write them. They may simply be the best ones that are liked by the engines (depends a lot on the search traffic).
Now compile all of them in a listed fashion. If possible categorize them based on what section they fall into.
Try and get some cool images from Flickr with Creative common license related to the category.
In the list, rewrite the titles as attractive as possible, without any change in meaning.
Find out descriptions for each title in one or two sentences. (So as to pacify the “skimming guys”)
Now create a “Best of Best” post in whatever category you think all of them fit into. If they are not fit into any one category, make them the “”best of best tips/stories from your blog”.
Make sure that the list is pretty longer than your usual articles and they have lot of content in them. We are basically packaging them into a new “one more time” article.
You might have the doubt that people may not like it as they are all already read. You are right. not all of them may like it, but…believe me, if your blog has been acquiring newer audiences daily, and I assume that’s happening due to your posting frequency, many of them might have missed the older articles, which might have had better quality than your newer ones and most readers appreciate an opportunity you provide to go through them.
So create the best package with the best posts and with good quality. Read through the list and take down all the weeds, try to bring in the best and the most exclusive articles. Now, pass it on to the social media on SU or Delicious, and I’m sure you’d get a lot more traffic than usual, if they don’t do miracles and huge spikes.
They work and I’ve done it here on Daily SEO blog.(Of course, mine is all in raw form and no images, frills what so ever.) Do it in a very palatable format and readers will enjoy it.
