Google Local stickers spotted in India

Looks like Google is getting down to the grass roots with some traditional advertising. Probably the right choice when it comes to Google Local, where it is much easier to reach the local business.

These stickers were spotted at an eat out in Cochin, Kerala.

Yea, They took a few minutes of my time asking about my business and stuff for a free listing and stuff…..then stuck up a sticker at the door.

The a guy from bangalore called up and verified and activated the listing. Though I have no idea which keyword brings up my listing..lol

Google Local India is in fact approving Local listings for sure. But you should’ve applied for it. They are promoting it with free listings? Thats news !

yeps… It seems tht these kids who took the information from me get from money from google….they are basically collecting data for the future…They might be planning to do something on the lines of Just Dial on a massive free scale…advertisers will line up for sure.

but ironically…the shop downstairs declined to give any info saying tht since its free…its worthless….typical…

That’s weird. Already businesses are out there on Local. And me too. I don’t know if Google will pay college students to collect data. Should be one of their project work or something. But if Google is realy doing it…interesting !

Google is such a strong brand, as the popular phrase “just google it” can attest to. This is a two way win-win situation for both Google and people advertising via Google Local.
