How much of keyword density is too much keyword density?

Keyword density, is so old school stuff !

I’ve written about the 6-7% formula way earlier, I agree. But things have changed a lot since then. Google obviously has become more clever and does not give the importance it used to give to keyword density anymore. Even though it is a good practice to keep keyword density levels to a minimum, it’s definitely not the single thing that can give you that push up the SERPs.

A more natural and honest way of optimization would be not to follow any patterns in keyword density, rather focus on balancing the SEO factors such as Anchor Texts, Backlinks and On page SEO.

Hi Karthik,
i have been doing some research with my blog and how google treats it;-)

It seems all my posts are indexed but all have the Blog’s meta description instead of picking up the Individual post’s content.
Now,i haven set up individual meta tags for my posts,neither do i know how to.But isnt it something that should happen automatically
Please suggest

Ankit, you are on blogger.com. I’m assuming you’ve done no manual tweaking of the code. So the meta description by default is the original one of your site settings. However you can edit this manually. Also please note that this code may/may not work depending on the template you are using. So try it and if it doesn’t, be ready to revert back.

I agree with this post. The same for backlinks with “keyword” anchor text works not always fine.

There’s a very simple rule from Google: “Write content for readers, not search engines”. It’s a pain in the a$$ reading something like “I really like blogging, cause bloggers like me blog in their blogs about blogging, bloggers and blogs”. Common sense

I agree with above. I ALWAYS write for the reader first, then pretty it up a bit for the SE’s before publishing.

You say, “it’s definitely not the single thing that can give you that push up the SERPs.”

But isn’t it still important not to overdo it or get penalized?

Dennis, I wanted to say that KW density alone cannot help you at all in getting the edge over the competition. It worked 2 years before, not now. Google have clearly discounted KW density as a valid SEO factor.

This I understand. My question is if OVER keywording still affects you in a bad way in Googles eyes….or do they just not care either way now?
