If your traffic source is more of search engine referrals and if there’s a high bounce rate, that should ring bells at the dashboard. Shouldn’t it ? Well, it just means that many people who come to your blog through search engines looking for something is not actually finding it – and are disappointed. So, what have you done to curb this situation, or what would you like to do ?

I would want to show them alternatives or more related information to what they were looking for, if they don’t find a perfect match.

Because it’s very much possible that you might have the same content they’re looking for on a different post, probably titled differently. So, its all about making the connection.

There’s a nice plugin which will do just that. It shows visitors from search engines, possible alternate matches for their search queries. And it works pretty well too.

It says -

The widget aim is trying to reduce the bounce rate of your blog and provide the visitor a better navigation experience.

When a visitor lands on your site from a search engine result page, he is in need of a certain information / service your page might satisfy. It often happens the visitor go away just after reading that page, for various reasons. Why not to try suggesting him more posts on the topic he is interested in at that moment, so that he might visit more pages?

If you are worried about bounce rates, and want to get the best out of your search engine traffic, I very much recommend this guy. :)

Download the plugin here.

  1. Did you try it on this blog or elsewhere and how was the result? Was it helpful in reducing the bounce rate?

I couldn’t find the plugin working even on the plugin author’s blog!

  2. Ok. I saw it working when arrived on that plugin’s blog from Google, but still since it sits in the sidebar, lacks to get attention. It would have been nice if could display in the top center hotspot instead of being as a sidebar widget.

  5. Yeah, I know what you’re talking about.

I use Analytics and see a high bounce rate…

Hope this plugin is the real deal… lol

I think it’s great because it lets the user “control” how he access the content, right… and we know that interactivity is what our blogs should aim for.
